The University of Maine at Augusta Wellness Committee is pleased to announce our 1st Annual Tour de UMA Wellness Relay which will take place during the 2023-2024 academic year. We are inviting you to join us as we embark on our “virtual journey” across the UMA system. This free activity was created to encourage you and others to be active and promote a better and healthier lifestyle. We hope you choose to join us for the great fun and excitement of the Tour de UMA, a “virtual trek” across the state with stops at each one of our beautiful locations.

Completing this activity will count for your Level 2 Wellness Incentive.

Step 2: Begin tracking your activity on Monday, October 2, 2023

Each virtual leg of the tour will start on a specific date, beginning with the trek from the Augusta Campus to the Rockland Center, on October 2, 2023.

The length of time to complete each leg of the Tour de UMA will be determined by the number of miles between each location.

Miles will be obtained using a time/distance ratio system which is based upon the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation of 150 minutes of physical activity per week. 1 minute of activity = .3 miles (ex: 30 minutes of activity x .3 = 9 miles)

Exercise Activity Examples Qualified for this Event include: walking, jogging, running, biking, swimming, skiing, snowshoeing, elliptical, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, Yoga, Zumba, Aikido, Aerobics, weight lifting, cross training, tennis, racquetball, volleyball, pickleball, wallyball, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, dancing, frisbee, gardening, and active yard games.
