UMA Student Research Conference 2024

UMA Student Research Conference 2024
Education as a Public Good

Welcome

The UMA Student Research Conference is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and community members to come together to share our work across disciplines and programs and to learn more about a variety of topics, including this year’s academic theme, Education as a Public Good.

The conference planning committee is happy to welcome you to our event website! Here you will find more information about the event, a place to upload your proposal and final submission, as well as the schedule.

This conference will include student presentations of their work on a variety of subjects and in a variety of formats. These presentations (as well as other opportunities for collaboration and learning) will take place in real-time on Friday, April 19th (via Zoom and in-person).

Everyone is welcome to attend this conference. Students can invite friends and family, and professors are encouraged to mentor students and to attend this conference in support of our students. Online registration is required, but there is no cost to attend the conference. Let’s build on tradition and create a new one in the spirit of collaboration and life-long learning.

(Recordings of sessions should be available within about one week of the conference.)

Welcome

Call for Proposals

Students may choose to submit a proposal in one of many formats. Some of these formats involve only an individual submission. Others require collaboration and pre-planning. Students are encouraged to seek guidance from faculty members and/or staff for feedback prior to submitting a proposal.

Proposals are due by April 1, 2024.
Late proposals can not be considered.

Your proposal will need a title, a format, and an abstract/description. The title and description you provide are what will appear in the conference program. You will also be asked about your real-time availability on Friday, April 19th, when the synchronous (real-time) student presentations will take place.

Students will be contacted about their acceptance by Monday, April 8.

If you have any questions, please contact Drs. Lorien Lake-Corral or Robert Kellerman, and don't forget to ask your professors, Libraries, VAWLT, Writing Center staff in Augusta and Bangor, or Honors students for help!

2024 UMA Student Research Conference Feedback and Award Nomination Form

There will be an opportunity to submit feedback and nominate presentations for awards after the conference. Winners will be informed via email and will receive customized digital certificates.
