Lewiston Hall Elevator Installation and Third Floor Renovations

The University of Maine System desires to procure design services for the following project:

Lewiston Hall Elevator Installation and Third Floor Renovations on the University of Maine at Augusta, Bangor campus. The University is looking for design services to install an elevator to the existing three story, 25,300 s.f, brick and block administrative building, circa 1957. The design will also include building code upgrades on all floors as required. The planned design includes upgrading plumbing, heating, electrical and telecom systems to accommodate new office space on the third floor. The renovation will also include new flooring and ceiling systems in some parts of the building.

Firms desiring to be considered for a design commission should submit a letter indicating interest and the letter should be accompanied by four (4) copies of the following:

a) A list of similar type projects completed in the past four years

b) A profile of major firm personnel

c) A listing of major consultants normally used

d) A listing of projects, including owner’s representative, within Maine which demonstrates the design capabilities of the firm

To be considered design firms must be capable of starting design work immediately following the conclusion of the selection process.

Firms/teams will be required to provide all construction and record drawings for this project on electronic media (CAD) in either .dwg (preferred) or .dxf format and prepare contract documents using AIA Contract Documents format.

The principal design firm selected for a design agreement will be required to show evidence of, and maintain through the project warranty period of one year following completion, Professional Liability (Errors and Omissions) Insurance through a Company licensed to do business in Maine, with a minimum coverage per occurrence of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000).
