Zoom

Zoom Best Practices
- Check for updates in Zoom and your device to ensure compatibility and to prevent issues.
- Restart your computer within the last 24 hours before your next meeting.
- Test wifi to ensure you have a fast, stable internet connection.
- Wired connection is recommended; use wireless only if it is reliable. This will help ensure your connection does not falter or drop during the session.
- Secure a quiet, distraction-free physical location to attend your session to avoid disruptions.
- If you can’t secure a low distraction physical location, blur your background or use the green screen effect if in a public type setting where there is constant movement around or behind you to avoid distractions.
- Mute yourself before joining session to avoid disruptions.
- Test your audio before speaking to ensure the other participants can hear you and you can hear them.
- Use headphones when you share a space and are in the same session as another person.
- Take turns unmuting and speaking, otherwise it may cause a distracting echo effect for all participants in the session.
- Avoid multitasking while attending session (e.g. commuting in a car, doing class/homework, cleaning, etc.).
- There are courses that require you to be an active participant, and participation cannot adequately be performed while multitasking.
- Be attentive in your session.
