Reintroducing: Counseling & Wellness

"It's okay to ask for help"

The Department of Counseling and Wellness would like to re-introduce ourselves and remind all that we are an available resource to students! Our clinical team has grown exponentially in the last few months.

We have new Director of Counseling and Wellness, Jordan G Shaw, LCPC, NCC, two new clinicians, Alexandra Hood, LCPC-C, NCC, and Kelsie Gagnon, LCPC-C, NCC, and eight graduate students from both The University of Southern Maine and Husson University completing their required Practicum and Internship experiences. We are excited to serve the students of UMA and are available to consult with you on a wide range of student mental health needs.

As a reminder, we provide free, confidential mental health counseling to any currently enrolled UMA student. Counselors are available for telehealth services and in-person appointments on our Augusta and Bangor campuses. Share our email, umacounseling@maine.edu, or phone, 207-621-3344, with students to make an appointment.
