Nominations for Student Awards (Distinguished Student and Woodworth) Are Now Open!

Nominations are now open for the Kathleen Dexter Distinguished Student Award and the James H. Woodworth Memorial Award.

The Kathleen Dexter Distinguished Student Award is given to a graduating student (associate or baccalaureate) who has demonstrated specific contributions and excellence in each of three areas: scholarship, extracurricular participation and/or leadership, and community service outside of UMA. Find the nomination form here.

The Woodworth Memorial Award honors a non-traditional student. The recipient should be someone who is graduating (associate or baccalaureate), would not normally be recognized for academic or extracurricular achievement, but who has achieved a great deal within the context of his or her total responsibilities and earned a GPA of 2.5 or above. Find the nomination form here.

Faculty, staff, and other students may nominate students, or students may nominate themselves. If a student self-nominates (or another student nominates a student), a letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member must accompany the nomination.

Please nominate as many students as you think may be deserving of consideration for these awards and submit your completed nomination form(s) by the deadline of noon, March 20, 2023. If you would prefer a print version of the form, or if you have any questions about these awards, please contact Aaminah Aleem (aaminah.aleem@maine.edu) at 621-3374 or 1-877-862-1234, ext. 3374.
