| Expertise | Dr. Dyer serves as a Patrol Sergeant for a mid-sized agency in Connecticut, where he has spent over thirteen years in operational law enforcement. His prior research, grounded in action research methodology, examined how sustained, non-enforcement community engagement shifts officer perceptions and rebuilds institutional trust in BIPOC communities. He serves as a federal grant peer reviewer for the U.S. Department of Justice, SAMHSA, and the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, and previously held a board position with the iSchool for the Future. |

Dr. Baron A. Dyer is a Fulbright Specialist, ACJS Fellow, and Future Policing Institute Fellow whose research focuses on institutional trust, police legitimacy, and AI governance in public safety. He holds an Ed.D. from Northeastern University and is a Research Affiliate with the ESRC Vulnerability and Policing Futures Research Centre at the University of York. A thirteen-year law enforcement practitioner and Marine veteran, Dr. Dyer brings both scholarly rigor and operational insight to his teaching in Justice Studies.
