Dr. Lakey has been a part of the UMA faculty since 2018. She has over 25 years of nursing experience and has worked in a variety of roles, including in the emergency department and as a school nurse. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Messiah College in 2000, a Master of Science in Nursing from Husson University in 2014, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Liberty University in 2022. She also earned her post-master’s FNP certificate from the University of Maine in May 2025. Dr. Lakey currently practices clinically per diem at MaineGeneral’s Express Care. Her doctoral work focused on mindfulness and nurse burnout, and she continues to engage in research related to mindfulness and nurse well-being. She is dedicated to supporting students’ growth, confidence, and success throughout their nursing education. Dr. Lakey also serves as the faculty advisor for UMA’s Student Nursing Association (SNA). |
