Bio

John entered the nursing program with more than 15 years of experience in community-based and in-home mental health support. Throughout his career as a frontline Direct Support Professional, he has served as a Team Leader in a group home, a CRMA in elder care facilities, and a certified coach for Special Olympics teams.

He earned an associate’s degree in New Media and Multimedia in 2003 from Southern Maine Tech. He gained experience with digital tools, AV/IT equipment, and began producing live and recorded television shows for a TV studio in Waterville.

He is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems at the University of Maine at Augusta, where he is studying computer science, programming, and networking to round out his AV and IT knowledge.

John just finished his first year as a Simulation Specialist at UMA and has eagerly taken on the challenge of supporting the newly built Capital Center in Augusta, which includes operation and maintenance of three simulation rooms and ten high-fidelity simulators.

Outside of work and school, John brings the same curiosity and energy to his personal interests. He enjoys tending to his flower garden, play time with his dog, late-night DJ gigs in Portland, and spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and camping.
