UMA Brunswick is one of eight centers around Maine where people can take courses, pursue degrees, and receive all the support they need to earn a degree close to home and on schedules that fit into their family and work lives. Courses are taught by faculty onsite, online, and via web videoconferencing. The Center is located in a wing of Orion Hall on the Southern Maine Community College Midcoast Campus, 12 Sewall Street, Brunswick.

Center Hours

The Center is open for remote and in-person services during the Summer Semester.  Students are expected to follow UMS and UMA vaccination guidelines, including COVID-19 guidance.

All services are available remotely: registration assistance, advising, admissions, and enrollment support. Please call 207.442.7736 or email Center Staff to schedule an appointment.  Remote services are available M-F.

Summer Semester Business Hours: (5/9/22 to 8/19/22)

Monday – Thursday:  8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Friday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

For students who need appointments outside of these hours, please contact staff to schedule an appointment.

Michelle Lisi

Michelle B. Lisi

VAWLT Coordinator and Adjunct Writing Faculty

Michelle Lisi is an online writing center administrator and a part-time College of Arts and Sciences faculty member. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication from the University of Delaware. Michelle has developed multiple humanities courses on subjects ranging from critical thinking to paranoia, from tutor training and graphic novels to new media. As co-chair of the WICCD (Women Invigorating Curriculum and Cultivating Diversity) Committee, Michelle advocates for institutionalized ELL resources and LGBTQI+/BIPOC Safe Zones. She has supported Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship awards as well as First Year Writing assessment. As VAWLT coordinator, she creates learning tutorials in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff. In her spare time, Michelle volunteers for the Portland JCA (Jewish Community Alliance) and HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society). She also serves as a Hebrew School teacher and Board Member of the Beth Israel Congregation in Bath.
