New elective course available for Spring
NUR 420/POS 420 The American Healthcare System is an elective offered in spring 2026 that examines the American healthcare system using current, no-cost Open Educational Resources and an integrated nursing and political science perspective.
This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare structures, stakeholder roles, social determinants and consumer engagement, while also addressing cultural competence, inclusive care and global system comparisons. Students explore healthcare finance, operations and innovation to better understand how policy, practice and systems intersect.
The course supports workforce-aligned learning for a wide variety of students interested in healthcare delivery, policy, leadership and system improvement.
