Discover How TRIO Can Enhance Student Success at UMA

Faculty and staff: learn how UMA’s TRIO Scholars program supports student success—and how you can help connect eligible students to these resources.

What is TRIO Scholars?

TRIO Scholars is a federally funded Student Support Services program designed to help eligible students succeed at UMA. Our program serves 340 undergraduate students who are:

  • First-generation (the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree)
  • Income-eligible (using significant financial aid to attend)
  • Students with disabilities (using accommodations to access learning
  • and classrooms)

What TRIO Provides

TRIO Scholars amplifies and personalizes many of the services already available on campus, offering students targeted support such as:

  • Academic advising & class registration support
  • Textbook lending library and competitive grant aid
  • Financial aid guidance (FAFSA, scholarships, and economic literacy)
  • Tutoring and academic skill development
  • Graduate school and career exploration
  • Workshops, mentoring, and community-building opportunities

Faculty and staff play a critical role in connecting students to resources. Referring eligible students to TRIO Scholars helps them access the tools, guidance, and community they need to thrive and graduate.
