Review your UMS profile: Your action is requested by May 1
Dear Colleagues,
As a federal contractor, the University of Maine System (UMS) is obligated to report aggregate data related to equal opportunity employment. This helps us assess our progress toward meeting the highest standards of compliance. To that end, we are requesting an update for the following personal details:
Veteran Status
Providing opportunities for veterans and, importantly, those protected under the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), which includes disabled veterans, recently separated veterans, and other covered groups.
Disability Status
Ensuring nondiscrimination and promoting inclusion for individuals with disabilities, regardless of whether accommodation is needed to perform their job, in accordance with Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Education, while not required for federal compliance, is a helpful data point for us to collect to assess the needs and qualifications of our workforce. Please consider updating your education record as well.
Important Points to Note
- Voluntary Disclosure: Providing this information is voluntary. However, your participation is essential to the accuracy of our reporting.
- Confidentiality: Your responses will be kept strictly confidential and used only for aggregate reporting purposes.
- No Impact on Employment: The information you provide will not impact your employment, performance evaluations, or opportunities within the UMS.
Should you have any questions or concerns about this process, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Office of Institutional Equity and Title IX Services via email at equal.opportunity@maine.edu or by phone at 207-581-1226. We are here to assist and ensure you feel comfortable throughout this process.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this important task. Your cooperation helps us fulfill our commitment to equal opportunity and diversity within our workplace.
Sincerely,
UMS Office of Equal Opportunity
