2025-2026 Academic Assessment Summit, Day 1

Please join this three-day series of one-hour sessions, from Feb. 9 to 11, each day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, to explore topics related to academic assessment in the age of generative AI.

The summit will be in-person on the UMA Campus in Augusta, with a video feed to Bangor, as well as online via Zoom*.

This event is co-hosted by the Joint Academic Assessment Committee (JAAC) and the Artificial Intelligence Committee (AIC).

The series will kick off on Monday, Feb. 9, with opening remarks by UMA Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) Director Dr. David Prestby and UMA Provost Dr. Joe Szakas.

The session will begin with a short pre-recorded interview with guest speaker Christopher Ostro. He is an AI-focused Assistant Teaching Professor and Course Designer at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Following the video, guests from UMA will participate in a live discussion, moderated by Chad Bouchard, UMA’s AI and Academic Initiatives Coordinator.

Light refreshments will be offered in Farber Forum and in Eastport Hall each day.

All sessions will take place at the Farber Forum in Jewett Hall, 46 University Drive in Augusta, and on the Bangor campus over Zoom in Eastport Hall, Room 136.

*The Zoom link will be added to the UMA calendar closer to the event date.
