AI Campfire – Tutor Perspectives

This week, we welcome back Grace Freeman of TRIO, as she presents the results of her survey of LEAP (Learning English for Academic Purposes, previously known as VAWLT) writing center tutors and their perceptions of student use of generative AI in their assignments. The survey explored how writing tutors at UMA navigate student use of AI-generated writing. We’ll discuss the results, common themes in tutor feedback, and the value of ”tutor intuition” in academic practice and policy.
