We know many of you have been waiting to learn how to sign up with the Kennebec Valley YMCA through UMA’s new partnership. The applications are ready, and eligible students, faculty, staff, and qualifying family members can now apply for a YMCA membership covered by UMA.
For those based in or near Augusta, the YMCA replaces the fitness center previously available at the Augusta Civic Center. Membership includes access to the YMCA’s fitness center, pools, gym, included group exercise classes, and other member benefits.
You can find eligibility information, FAQs, and the two membership applications on the MyUMA portal:
One application is for students. The other is for faculty, staff, and eligible family members. Download and complete the form that applies to you, then bring it to the Kennebec Valley YMCA at 31 Union Street in Augusta. Please do not send completed applications to UMA.
Bangor-based students and employees can continue to use the UMA Bangor Fitness Center and may also apply for the Kennebec Valley YMCA program if they are otherwise eligible. Use of other YMCA locations depends on each location’s reciprocity rules. The webpage has more information for Bangor and center-based students and employees.
Want to see the YMCA before signing up? Join us at the open house:
Come by anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 pm. UMA staff will be there, and you can tour the facility, talk with YMCA staff, ask questions, and complete or turn in your application.
Applications will be available at the event, or you can bring one you have already completed. Please bring your valid driver’s license or state-issued photo ID.
We hope you’ll stop by and take a look!
