UMA is pleased to share that adjunct faculty member John M. O’Brien, Ph.D., recently gave a TEDx talk at Tufts University titled “Small Slights, Big Consequences: The Power of Everyday Incivility.” The video was just released and is available to watch on YouTube.
His talk highlights a very uncivil interview for a faculty position that led him to find the University of Maine at Augusta as a place to share his passion for teaching. It also encourages us all to become “superheroes” in dealing with incivility in our society. That he found his teaching home here says something about the kind of community UMA is.
