The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) attempts to provide adequate parking for all while keeping roadways and passages open for emergency vehicles. UMA is committed to providing a safe environment and to providing reasonable access to the campus for people with disabilities. This policy is written to ensure that roadways and walkways are free and clear at all times to allow for the safe passage of emergency vehicles to all buildings on campus.

Permission to operate and park a vehicle on the campus is a privilege granted by UMA. Failure to comply with this policy may result in your vehicle being towed at your expense and your privilege to drive on campus may be revoked.

Overnight parking on the Augusta or Bangor campus is by permission only from the Director of Campus Operations (621-3103).

Staff, students and visitors may park vehicles in several areas. If you are unfamiliar with the location of parking lots, don’t hesitate to contact Campus Security. Please lock your vehicles and keep valuable hidden from view.  Most thefts that occur from vehicles are from unsecured vehicles with the items taken being left in plain sight from the outside.

Handicapped parking areas are located near every building. Parking in the handicapped spaces is restricted to those vehicles displaying a valid handicapped parking permit. Handicapped parking permits should be prominently displayed by hanging from the rearview mirror or resting on the dashboard in front of the driver’s seat.

Electric Vehicle Charging spaces are clearly marked and may only be used by Electric Vehicles while they are charging. Once your vehicle has completed charging, please move it to another non-electric vehicle space so another EV can use the charging space.

Individuals who must unload items may park while unloading near doorways in unloading zones. The vehicle must have its emergency (flashing) lights on. These vehicles must be removed from the unloading zones and parked in an appropriate parking lot as soon as possible.
