The Academic Success division connects UMA students to the resources they need to succeed. We offer services in Augusta (Katz building, Suite 33), Bangor (100A Eastport Hall) and online at umasuccess@maine.edu.

Accessibility Services

We facilitate accommodations for students with disabilities. Professional staff collaborate with students to determine appropriate accommodations. Staff advocates for students to ensure effective implementation of accommodations, including adaptive technology, to ensure equal access to courses and campus programs.

Tutoring

Tutoring is available for most developmental and introductory courses and some upper-level courses. It is provided in individual or small group settings by qualified community or peer tutors. Web-tutoring is available through NetTutor when peer or professional tutoring is not available.

Academic Success Coaching

Individualized success coaching helps students improve areas such as organizational skills, time management, motivation, balancing life/school/work, accountability, study skills, and more. Coaching focuses on the big picture of academic success, unlike content-specific tutoring.

Neurodiversity

The Neurodiversity Initiative is built of a lot of different parts. There is social programming that includes the Social Table and Discord Server. The Neurodiversity Liaison and Student Success Specialist supports all students, especially those with LDs, to better understand their needs. One-on-one support is available for all students who need strategies for navigating classwork and university life more broadly.
