The University of Maine at Augusta acknowledges that its campuses and Centers are located in the homeland of the Wabanaki Nations—the Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Maliseet, and Mi’kmaq—who have stewarded these lands for countless generations and continue to do so today. We recognize the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization and commit to building and sustaining respectful partnerships with Wabanaki communities. Through education, community engagement, and institutional collaboration, we seek to support efforts that honor Wabanaki cultures, histories, and contributions. We strive to foster Indigenous representation in education and promote meaningful relationships grounded in respect and reciprocity.
