Designed to align with UMA’s Bachelor of Arts in Biology program, this Early College pathway offers high school students the opportunity to complete both core and general education requirement courses while working with student-focused Biology faculty experts. UMA Biology majors choose a Bachelor of Arts, Medical Laboratory Technology 2+2 or pre-med track and graduate with a broad spectrum of career options including positions in laboratory science in both the public and private sectors and in education, while others have successfully pursued graduate study in the biological sciences, medical school, and in allied health programs leading to careers as a physician’s assistant or pharmacist.

  • ENG 101: College Writing and ENG 102W: Introduction to Literature
  • MAT 115: Elementary Statistics or MAT 124: Pre-Calculus (Take the necessary math to be ready for MAT 124 by the time you matriculate into the program.)
  • CHY 100: Fundamentals of Chemistry (skip if you took or are planning to take a HS chemistry course)
  • CIS 100: Introduction to Computer Applications or CIS 101: Introduction to Computer Science
  • COM 1XX (any 100-level course)
  • Foreign Language or History course
  • BIO 110: General Biology I
  • Fine Arts Elective and Social Science Elective
